What is the Competition?

The Contest Period: February 25th, 2019 at 12:01 AM EST until March 25th, 2019 at 11:59 PST

Who doesn’t love a bit of competition? As an added incentive, you’ll compete nationwide against universities and colleges across the country for CanUCode bragging rights!

All You Need To Get Started:

  • Be a student or alumni of a University or College
  • Have access to your student email
  • Contest is open to residents of Canada including Quebec

GRAND PRIZE - School Prize

What:

One (1) $3,000 pledge to the winning school (accredited university or college).

Who:

The university or college that earned the highest number of points by March 25th, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. PST

How:

  • Register here.
  • Each school can have multiple teams.
  • A minimum of 1 Code Mentor and up to 30 Code Learners per team.

Basic Qualification:

  • Each participant must register with a valid school email in order to qualify for their team

Earning Points:

Code Mentors: Each Code Mentor can earn one (1) point for their team once they complete the Code Mentor Training Module and 100% of the 10 Hour Learning Module.

Code Learners: Each Code Learner can earn one (1) point for their team once they complete 100% of the 10 Hour Learning Module.

Each school team earns points for a maximum of 31 points per team.

RUNNER UP - School Prize

What:

One (1) $1,500 pledge to the winning school (accredited university or college).

Who:

The university or college that earned the second-highest number of points by March 25th, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. PST

How:

  • Register here.
  • Each school can have multiple teams.
  • A minimum of 1 Code Mentor and up to 30 Code Learners per team.

Basic Qualification:

  • Each participant must register with a valid school email in order to qualify for their team

Earning Points:

Code Mentors: Each Code Mentor can earn one (1) point for their team once they complete the Code Mentor Training Module and 100% of the 10 Hour Learning Module.

Code Learners: Each Code Learner can earn one (1) point for their team once they complete 100% of the 10 Hour Learning Module.

Each school team earns points for a maximum of 31 points per team.

MOST INNOVATIVE DELIVERY PRIZE - Code Mentor Prize

What:

One (1) $500 restaurant gift card awarded to the Code Mentor leading the team, to be used for a team celebration party!

Who:

Code Mentors who are teaching the 10 Hour CanUCode Learning Module to their team.

How:

Email us at canucode@lighthouselabs.com with the subject line: CanUCode Most Innovative Delivery Submission

Basic Qualification:

  • Send us photos or other examples of your teaching method
  • Include a max. 300 word description (EN or FR) describing:
  1. What tools/channels did the Code Mentor use to teach the Learning Module?
  2. Was the method effective? How many Code Learners benefitted from the method and completed the curriculum? How did the Code Mentor actually mentor Code Learners?
  3. Was the Code Mentor’s delivery method inclusive?

Limited to 1 entry per Code Mentor. Winner will be selected by our panel of judges.

MOST VIRAL CODE JOURNEY - Code Mentor & Code Learner Prize

What:

One of five $100 Amazon Gift Cards

Who:

All Code Learners or Code Mentors who are registered for CanUCode before March 25th, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

How:

Share your coding journey with us on Twitter!

  1. Post a photo, video or other content from your code learning
  2. Follow and tag @lighthouse_labs in the post
  3. Use the hashtags #CanUCode and #contest in the post

Basic Qualification:

  • Each tweet entry will be given a score by the judges based on the criteria:
  1. How many times was the Twitter Entry shared with the hashtags?
  2. What is the quality of the Twitter Entry content?
  3. Was the Code Mentor’s delivery method inclusive?

Top 5 winners will be selected by our panel of judges by March 27th, 2019.

Limited to 1 Twitter Entry per person.

FRESHEST TEAM T-SHIRT - Code Mentor & Code Learner Prize
